Of course, no mention of security. The study was conducted by Micro$oft, so disregard.
You can do a lot with instant-messaging... but not with "instant messaging."
"Money" has changed hands by means of electronic communication for many decades. Companies issue thousands of invoices a day and there's not a scrap of paper to be found.
"IM" could never be secure, but an SSL2-capable application on your handy iPhone (or any other modern portable phone) certainly could clear a transaction, and could do so far more capably and securely (to you and to the merchant) than, say, a plastic credit-card. . .
What ever happened to two humans speaking to each other via the telephone?
The only issues I have is waiting on the line beacuse all three of their customer service reps are busy.
Does IM fix the wait-time issue?
This is little too far for me. I do 99% of my business online, but I do not think IM is a necessity for banking. In fact, until banking security is taken seriously by banks, it is still unsafe.
I am not young! I am retired and I think we need to use automation and the internet to enhance our productivity to help our Economy. One way is to provide on-line mortgages at extremely low rates (Fed Rate +2% or +3%) since many fees and costs can be avoided by using links to databases and automation for verifications and loan preparation.
Also, even tax services, accounting services, legal services, business plan services, etc. could be partially automated over the Internet! But do not forget to take a couple walks everyday or other exercise!
Obama's Technology Cabinet Position can be a LEADER in encouraging productivity enhancement in government and business!
