I'm not saying that getting laid is the agenda at every political event. But when everybody's drunk on America, there's a good chance to engage salaciously with legislators or the fit security staff.
Zachary Karabell, 08.26.2008
Obama's strength is and has been the degree to which he promises a break from the way we've come to understand national politics. That is the opposite of the stage-managed convention.

These contests will help determine whether the party can hold off Republicans' attempts to seize back control of Congress, or add seats to the Democratic majority they gained in 2006.

Hillary made the case she needed to make to her supporters who were still sitting on the fence, and she did it perfectly, in a speech for the ages.

What now? Our primary goal is to unite the millions of disaffected Democrats and to hold the DNC and its leadership accountable this November and beyond, working to defeat key players and create fairer elections.

For the right-wing commentariat, Peggy Noonan's snark this morning was a Katrina moment. It was a benchmark for how out of it and, well, disgusting, that crowd is.

Obama's win hardly puts an end to this system of racism, but it's still momentous, because it shows us a way forward, a way to reduce if not eliminate racial injustice and inequality.

I just wanted to pack it in, go home and curl up in bed. I've managed my way around the slums of Africa and the tsunami-ravaged beaches of Thailand but Denver had me licked.

Obama and Carter's similarities overlook two key differences that suggest a better outcome should Obama be elected.

August 28th will be the final day of the Democratic National Convention. Unless Hillary Clinton soon acquires the ability to perform miracles, the nominee giving the acceptance speech is going to be Barack Obama.

This is a book that echoes. Barack's father, in a letter to his 10-year-old son, tells him, "Like water finding its level, you will find a career that suits you."
Rachel Maddow, 05.22.2008
So, how does the Democratic Party get a nominee before the convention? Seems to me there's two things that need to happen. One small, one big.

I am looking forward to this also but I wish that people would tone down this idea that he is an African American. He like so many of us, is a good old American mutt. A combination of genes from different gene pools. This is one of the best things about this country and he and we should be proud of it. A blend of races, ideas, cultures and values. He is a bright eloquent man that has ideas and values that supports this melting pot and the alternative is the exact opposite. Their ideas and values are for a certain ethnic type and they are proud of their segregation. This is why the party that listens to all members of the melting pot are the dems. He is the current leader of the dems and it is only fitting that he is a mutt.
Amazing that Cameron left out another incredible first: the first time a woman's name will be placed in nomination for the highest office in the land. Or is it true that the DNC and Barack Obama are pressuring Hillary to remove her name? What are these clowns afraid of?
Cameron - Seems everything you have done thus far in your career was preparation for this moment in time. This is an amazing year on many levels. I grew up w/the new Governor of NY -- and my deceased mother grew up w/his dad -- during a very different time and place in our history, it is increasing becoming clear. God speed -- and easy does it! Your focus on flexibility combined w/a underlying framework that allows fluidity, security and expansiveness/inclusion on an unprecedented scale -- will make possible a truly Democratic Party Convention that meets not only the standards -- but the spirit and emotional quotient, relevancy and meaning BEYOND anything seen before. Thank you and your team for, what must be, more than two years VERY HARD WORK. We will all do our part, nationally.
About 15 years ago, I lived in Denver at 16th & Larimer. I loved it but had to move because ot my job (to Utah, no less).
