Te Electric Power Research Institute in Palo Alto, Calif., estimates that 400,000 tons of carbon dioxide could be cut, along with $250 million in energy costs, if every U.S. house switched standard incandescents to energy-saving LED Christmas lights.

Last week a mix of water and sanitation experts gathered for World Water Week in Stockholm, Sweden to mull over the world's biggest public health crisis. The problem is that not enough people paid attention.

Like the nagging relative or the smug married friend, this inquiring mind was asking of each of these unmarried couples, "So why aren't you married?"

Letterman admirably pressed the feisty little Republican on several key issues in a manner that should embarrass the hell out of working journalists.

What now? Our primary goal is to unite the millions of disaffected Democrats and to hold the DNC and its leadership accountable this November and beyond, working to defeat key players and create fairer elections.

I did a doubletake when I arrived home tonight to see the cover of New York magazine's "This Is New York, 1968 - 2008" issue. Apparently the cultural titans among us are very white and have penises.

Is McCain experiencing a mere wave of panic selling? Can he rebound from 44? Time will tell, but so far traders don't seem to be buying McCain on this dip.

The problem with Republicans is they only think about winning. Governing is secondary. That's why they were willing to put this woman a heartbeat away from the presidency. They thought she could help them win. It's why they get down in the gutter and wallow in lies and smears. He hates the troops, he's unpatriotic, he pal's around with terrorists, she's Godless, he's a socalist, they're not the "right" kind of Americans, and on and on. They trot out the same filth year after year and it finally caught up with them. Thank God.
