Adopt a dog that is a few months old along with a sibling or buddy to keep him company unless someone wants that role. I suspect President Obama may have other things to do. Puppies are notorious for chewing everything. We just waited for our puppy to outgrow this behavior so I am not the one to recommend. It is true that puppies love important documents as well as old socks and chew toys.
Look on the bright side. They can retire the paper-shredder in the name of cost-cutting. Times are tough.
