Leon Panetta Right Choice for CIA
Leon Panetta is a patriot, a veteran, and a consensus builder, and he will lead the CIA forthrightly and in full respect for the law and the Constitution. I frankly cannot think of a better choice.

Now that he's the Commander-in-Chief, Obama needs to step it up, and dress the part. It's time he pimps himself out Wii Rock Band style. Would Elvis or Bono ever wear straight khakis?
What is the worst case scenario? Burris runs for re-election in 2010 and loses? If a Democrat loses a U.S. Senate race in Illinois, Roland Burris will be the least of the Democrats' problems.
The Obama administration's emphasis on "talk" with Hamas will bring a significant moral shift in U.S. policy -- but it will not do away with some of the core grievances vis-a-vis U.S.-Israel relations.
Hoping to calm a nation whose nerves have been rattled by economic woes, Obama today delivered the first in a series of numbingly boring speeches designed to put the nation to sleep.
Back in the old days, the White House was wide open. Citizens could enter freely -- much like they enter, say, the post office or the local police station in modern times.
The political campaigns did not shy away from the tried and true; the 30-second television ad, the direct mail flyer, yard signs, bumper stickers are alive and well.
Like a Clean Air Act for our air, and a Clean Water Act for our water - we need a landmark bill to protect the health of our oceans.
Small business advocates are concerned that President-elect Obama may enact policy and legislation that could be harmful to the nation's nearly 27 million small businesses.
Building better broadband is not a bailout. It's a buildout for better democracy.
Obama's press conference today promised a "clean break from a troubled past." Central to a clean break must be an emphasis on recovery for all Americans, not the just usual beneficiaries.

The Military Commissions to try Guantanamo detainees have rarely grabbed the media attention that a novel, flagship program to try "terror suspects" should have attracted.

Obama needed Dean and his crazed, totally committed Deaniacs (like me, like my friends and family) to pump all that money into his campaign, defeat Clinton for the nomination, and carry previously red states like mine (NC.) But now that he's in...not so much.
I knew the minute that Obama picked Emanuel for his COS, and Clinton for SOS, that AIPAC and the DLC was going to be running things for the next 4 years. A center-right, pro-business, pro-Israel conservative administration. Philosophically, Obama is not part of the Democratic wing of the Democratic Party. My hopes for a pro-union, pro-equality, anti-war president have dimmed. I should have saved my time and energy and let Hillary win the nomination, I would have gotten the same administration as we're going to get with Obama.
Rahm Emanuel is going to be trouble.
Obama is running a 79% approval rating with a majority in both houses, here is what Obama should be doing, peel of a few Republican senators and forget the rest. Do what you got to do and forget the silly Republicans and stop bending over backwards to appease the Republicans, you never will win them over.
You know, i don't think its beyond the realm of possibility that Dean backed away from wanting the cabinet post.... Pat Leahy is pretty old, maybe he's secretly planning on retiring if Dean would be willing to run for his seat? Just a thought, theory, abstract arm-waving....
