We haven't all ripped up our debit cards and moved to the woods to forage on berries -- I decided to ask around my neighborhood grocery stores about how business was going.

Americans everywhere will continue to have sympathy with all those who suffer in your fires, but if you want us to take your claims to being 'green' seriously, start getting your suicidal groundwater abuse under control, California.

Call me frugal, but in a time of shady economics, it's kind of nice to know that you don't need another outlet to make waffles.

Once upon a time, things were made to serve a purpose. Consider the light bulb, the compass, and the cardiac pacemaker. No doubt necessity was once the mother of invention.

Neil, as a songwriter you always put it on the line...with your comments about the auto industry you have taken the words right out of my mouth and mind. I totally agree with you.
The Big 3(as they are called- more like behind the times 3) are totally out of step with reality.
if they had the balls 5 years ago to leave the old ideas and produce just electric and solar cars things would be different, helping the US weed itself off of OIL!!!
India is producing electric cars !!! INDIA!!!!
We cant let the companies fail....it would be too much.
Maybe taking a stake(ownership by the US citizens- it is our tax dollars) we can force that change that is needed.
But what you said about:
quote:
Find a new ownership group. The culture must change. It is time to turn the page. In the high technology sector there are several candidates for ownership of a major car and truck manufacturer. We need forward looking people who are not restricted by the existing culture in Detroit. We need visionary people now with business sense to create automobiles that do not contribute to global warming.
It is True, It is lodgical, But do the car makers get it ???
I think not.....they will be back with hands out again in a few months crying the same tune!!!
I am certain they do not read Huffington News............They should !!!

Niel, Saw you open for the Stones in 66' at the Hollywood bowl. Loved your music and ideals ever since.
My buddy Charlie Dole (grandson of the pineapple king), did your upgrade of your schoolbus in 72'. I hope that one went green as well. Love the posted pictures! Love more the ideas that spark the mind toward real change.
People in Detroit working in that dungeon of a factory need a little of this hope as well. Thanks
Based on the number of responses here, I'd guess that the movie will be a " green " success for Neil. (That is the point of this "story" isn't it. Free publicity for a " feature documentary" - featuring Neil Young??)
Awesome concept! Where do I vote and has this been sent to Obama?
One thing though, that everyone should also be aware of, is that although it is imperative that We the People reduce or eliminate our use of gasoline-powered vehicles, we also need to address the fact that 70% of the gas America uses is used by the military (!) so we also need to make more effort to stop warring!!
This would be a perfect time to instigate my suggestion of focusing on "3rd World Countries" needs before our own. If we can figure-out a way to provide 'free' energy to Iraq and India and Africa and even China, we will, in the process of doing that, figure-out how to provide for our own needs whilst generating goodwill from people that have traditionally been antagonistic towards us, AND we will be reducing the pollution at the same time.
Just a thought....
