The 12 Most Viral Web Stories of 2008
The web changed forever the moment that Iraqi journalist threw his shoes at President Bush. Or at least it changed for two or three days as the animated gifs and games flooded the Internet.

People like Elisabeth Hasselbeck only like the intervention of judges when it helps them (see "Florida Recount") and, they like to endow The People with more wisdom than reality supports.
I'm in favor of real marriage equality. Love the one you're with -- love the two or more you're with, if you can work that out. Marry them if you're into that kind of thing.
Yes, Rick Warren presents himself as a reasonable, thoughtful and even mostly accepting man. That's precisely the problem.
Repealing Don't Ask Don't Tell has been floated as one opportunity for Obama, but I encourage the new President to try frying a bigger fish -- the Defense of Marriage Act.
How is it that queers became the odd ones out at such a momentous turning point in history? By pushing an agenda of stupid issues like gay marriage.
Although Prop 8 wasn't exactly a remake of Prop 6, it's the same disaster movie storyline pitch: any recognition of constitutional rights for gay and lesbian citizens will somehow destroy the natural order.
Maybe it's not so much Rick Warren I should be directing my protests toward as all the gays and lesbians who titter at the very serious idea of equality.
The Rick Warrens of the world pretend that the Bible says marriage is between a man and a woman. But the Bible is full of men taking on second wives, prostitutes and concubines. And all the while, God heartily approves.
Obama would move on -- he'd refuse to be distracted. He'd brush the dirt off his shoulder and immediately return his focus to winning.
Given their history, Mormons know about being targeted for being different. Yet in a full-on offensive, the LDS Church mobilized in favor of California's Prop 8, a ballot initiative that bans gay marriage.
From a strictly legal perspective, it is next to impossible for courts to enforce the separation of church and state in the context of laws like Proposition 8.

There's something bigger at play here and you can't say Obama didn't warn you. He talked about reaching out, about expanding our politics and that crazy bastard actually meant it.
The gay marriage issue has intruded so profoundly on gay politics that I am told I should protest the inauguration of Obama, because he invited a minister to say a prayer whose main priorities are climate change, poverty, and AIDS.
Apparently, the only place you can see a girl kissing another girl on MTV nowadays is on The Real World after six tequila shots in the hot tub. Certainly not in the video called, um, "I Kissed a Girl."

Here's a thought Louise, Ann was brought up by (presumably) a married mother and look how she turned out - single, childless and angry at the world.
Amen,lefty.
A true font of wisdom and role model any single parent would turn to for comfort/advice/support.
You go mama!
Sorry such a short comment... I've got to get back to my job, then pick up the kid, make her a snack while she finishes her multiplication tables, and we're off to read our current bedtime book, "Ramona the Pest."
Speaking of pests... ah, don't get me started.
P.S. I gave you some "buzz" on Yahoo.
Ms. Sloan,
You go on with your bad bad self.
I am a single parent and the likes of ann whatever are beneath contempt.
She will appear on a talk show looking like she was rode hard and put away wet, but single parents are responsible for societies ills? BS.
BTW, sexual orientation doesn't even factor into this equation.
